Formal Title: AN ACT TO REPEAL AND AMEND SECTION 65852.2 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE, RELATING TO LAND USE

Summary: Modifies regulations to allow detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to include a garage, sets clear approval or denial timelines for ADU applications, and restricts local agencies from imposing certain zoning and lot standards that prevent the construction of at least an 800 square foot ADU. Also prohibits local agencies from denying permits for unpermitted ADUs constructed prior to January 1, 2018, under specified conditions.
